LOTRO Server LegendUSEULegendary. Lol yeah Pando's always had a bad rap for stealing bandwidth because of its P2P seeding, but it went out of business. These new guys who pushed the update are the real-deal shady as hell characters.Reloaded technologies (which apparently own's Pando's stuff now) has a slick professional-looking website, but many other malware/trojan horse or adware/spyware product sites do too.Reloaded's site is still showing Dungeons & Dragons online as 'one of the games that use it', but Turbine had already cut off Pando from it games quite some time ago.
Shady characters. Excellent writeup, thank you ever so much for the warning. I passed it on to a friend who may have still had it installed.I am reminded that corporations are not a magic fount of beneficence, and mostly serve only what they think will make them the most money. While this particular case is a rather black and white turn about, I am forced to ponder the idea of piecemeal transitions, like Facebook and Google, who clearly both serve and abuse their user bases, depending on which aspect of their businesses you look at.

People often say 'well they have to make a buck', and that is true, but there is often no single clear line between selling a legitimate product, and foisting unwanted exploitation upon a large user base. 'Make a buck' needs carefully considered limits, where we would hope that actions like those of Pando's new owners would be unambiguously criminal, and would therefore be much less likely to happen, because no lame excuses would suffice to justify such obviously abusive behavior. This is pretty disturbing. If you're unsure whether you've gotten everything off of your system, try this:.Check Program listings, which I'm sure you've done.
Nothing suspicious?.Which AV programs have you used to scan? I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials (assuming you use Windows) and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I do not suggest Norton, McAffe, or anything else, because they tend to be very intrusive and cause major system (and online gaming) slowdowns. AVG is one that's known for causing problems for some users. If you've used either of those, they've detected things, and are unable to get rid of them (never had this problem with MSSE, but have with MBAM), try running them in safe mode. If this does not work. Then do a Google search for 'ComboFix' and read about it.
It is a VERY powerful Malware removal tool that does not discriminate. For this reason, if Malicious code has been injected in to critical system files, it will delete them. So if you decide to use this, do so at your own risk.If you scan with CF and it finds nothing, you should be good to go. CF is good at finding those files that want to regenerate themselves with random filenames, hide themselves from task manager, and create hidden services to achieve such things. But again, if something has injected itself in to system files. It will remove them. However if you have your OS installation disc handy, you can always boot with it and repair your installation.Anyway, I've always been weary of Pando.
I always hated having it installed on my machine, and am glad DDO (I came here from the x-post) moved to Steam so I no longer have to put up with it.I hope this helps you and others in some way.Edit: Link to the ComboFix usage guide. Again, please be careful using it if you have to. Already ran Spybot Search & Destroy as well as MBAM right after it happened, then my AV.Found some stuff, was able to delete certain stuff, dunnow if more insidious stuff was installed. Running MSSE as well now to be sure.
A while back MSSE found a rootkit on my system that was causing BSODs that other AVs couldn't sniff out.Maybe the NSA is now targeting LOTRO/DDO players aside from WoW players and installing rootkits on people's computers with the Sweet Page trojan as a trojan trojan to cover their rootkits hahah (by making people think their system is clean after having removed trojan 1). Haha, who knows! And ROOTKIT! That's the word I was looking for in my post. It's been so long since I've dealt with one I'd forgotten that term. But regarding MSSE: MSSE is extremely light-weight and not nearly as intrusive as other AVs.
As such, it's actually one that I would suggest having real-time scanning active all the time. I do so on an old mechanical HD and notice no slowdown of any kind, where as, say, Norton, would bring my system to its knees.A friend of mine and her husband had a spare PC given to them that they were going to play WoW with, but she kept having super-high latency (in the 1000s+) and couldn't figure out why. After troubleshooting the typical hardware-related stuff with her (check cords, reset modem, etc.) she told me it used AVG and I had her disable/uninstall it, and it fixed her latency issues immediately. Hers wasn't the only case I've heard of where their AV program has caused problems.I assume that's what happens though, when the program and its assets are being actively scanned while in use. Even after being added to a white list. Filme completo dublado youtube.
