HOI2(Full Version) MessageR.E.LEE - HOI2 (5/17/2008 12:21:44 AM)What do you guys think about hearts of iron 2 has it been popular among members here or is it considered no good?thanks guysGrell - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 12:23:51 AM)I liked it. It wasn't a bad game, I've seen worse.Regards,GregLarryP - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 12:28:57 AM)quote:ORIGINAL: R.E.LEEWhat do you guys think about hearts of iron 2 has it been popular among members here or is it considered no good?thanks guys06 Maestro will be commenting on this when he gets on next, I can bet on it! :DHertston - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 1:14:05 AM)It's OK. The weakest of the Paradox titles IMHO, the continuous time approach just doesn't seem to fit as well as with the other games. I think it might be because it simply tries to do to much for that format.JudgeDredd - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 1:51:27 AM)I enjoyed/enjoy it. I still fire it up from time to time.I had an issue where I was able to create heavy tank drigades, but had no suitable units to attach them to. I thought I had, but apparently not.

That linked with updates which make your saves invalid got me out of playing it.When I was playing it, I started as Germany 1939 and I was having a blast, learning as I went (using mountain troops in moutainous terrain for faster movement and bonuses etc). It's still on the hard drive (with Doomsday and Armageddon addons) and waiting some dedicated time (which is what it needs). One day it will get some. I really don't mind the regional warfare.and I think the puasible continuous time does a fair job of keeping the game moving. One of the aspects I've never warmed to is the trade.I always seem to be just clicking ok mostly.it's almost like there is no need for it to be there.just nuisance popups.cdbeck - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 4:00:23 AM)I have been replaying it right now, today actually. I found a nice mod called the C.O.R.E. (Community Open Resource Exchange) which really ups the ante on HoI2 (w/ Doomsday and Armageddon). The tech tree is new, and it adds some nice changes to the progression of events. I haven't had much time with it yet though.Instead, I have also been playing with the OTHER mod I found, the HoI2 Fallout Mod.

Basically it is set in the Fallout Universe, full of Mutants, robots, vault dwellers, the Brotherhood of Steel, etc. The tech tree is all shades of crazy, and there is a lot of nice additions here. I suggest any Fallout fan go pick it up. It is a bit of a hassel to install, and you have to have Armageddon (but it is cheap enough).SoMMr. Yuck - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 4:42:40 AM)I find the lack of communication from the developers most frustrating.

Most of the time they won't even announce whether something is WAD or not.The release of the source code holds some hope for this games perfection, but I have a feeling I'll never look back once MWiF is out.cdbeck - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 6:11:44 AM)As long as the MWiF has a workable UI, that is as easy as HoI2 to use. To be perfectly honest, EiA had the worst UI with the least amount of feedback that I have ever seen. Which is disappointing, because the theory behind the game was quite good.SoMMr. Yuck - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 7:35:09 AM)Check out the tutorial pages on the sticky at the Wif threads; and make that comment there;). I think it'll work.

EiA was another fab board game, and there I hope, the similarity will end (cross my fingers).Widell - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 10:31:32 AM)HOI is a good game in my opinion, and I have been playing, and is playing it since HOI 1 and all the way up to HOI 2:Armageddon/DD. Another kind of cool thing (only if you can cope with a-historical, if not, don't click this link!) is that you can play your self through their games during hundreds of years. See this thread for an example:Krasny - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 1:06:31 PM)I think it's the best WW2 grand strategy game out there.Banquet - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 2:32:55 PM)I think it's a great game. Hertston said it's Paradox's weakest title, but I think it's their most ambitious and because of that it can fall down in some places. But in many ways it's their greatest achievement.

The last patch really helped to complete some of the loose ends. It will never be perfect, it's just too big, but for me personally it's a game I keep coming back to enjoy and would definitely feature in my top 5 games list!:)Joshuatree - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 2:58:51 PM)Well it sure had some awesome AAR's, I mean really pieces of art. And I think it was a great game. Only the sucky unit graphics put me off, and the sliders which I never really figured out what they did.06 Maestro - RE: HOI2 (5/17/2008 4:47:35 PM)HOI 2 DD (Arma+) is a great game. Until recently, it did have some fairly large bug issues.

Act war high treason map editor crack. As America tumbles into turmoil, confusion and chaos, only one man can save the nation from a threat that's growing more frightening by the day.

Since those have been taken care of (mostly8 ) I have started playing again. The HOI community has a large group of modders who have improved the game in many ways. There is not enough time to explore all the different strategies made possible-with somewhat realistic constraints-or even try all the different great mods.On the down side, there are a lot of things to do while playing HOI. In single player games, its not an issue, but tin MP games, it must be very difficult.
