Vegas week concluded with, and tonight we find out who the top 20 dancers are.Nathan Trasoras, who got through last season when he was still 17, is the first person to get into the top 20.David Hovhannisyan was shown briefly in the LA auditions as part of a going to Vegas montage. He has been eliminated.Kathryn McCormack is a new face, and she will be joining the top 20.Channing Cooke needs to work on her chemistry with a partner, but she has been voted into the top 20. Ellenore Scott and Ariana DeBose join her.Billy Bell made Adam cry during his final solo. Juilliard is willing to let him out and hold his scholarship so he can be on the show, and the judges are willing to oblige.Amber Jackson was warned about her performance in her first audition, despite her strong technique. She’s going to have to work on her ability to connect with the audience and try again.Krumper Russell Ferguson has surprised the judges by being able to do more than they would have expected.
He will advance. Hip hop dancer Kevin Hunt will also be advancing.Bianca Revels is the first tap dancer to get the news. She’s been on this show a few times now, the last time saying she was not going to return after she got cut at this stage. This time, she will advance to the top 20. The next tapper, Phillip Attmore, who was Ryan Kasprzak’s roommate on tour, is also going to the next round.
The final tap dancer, Peter Sabasino, has also joined the top 20.Victor Smalley, who chopped off his hair because the judges said it was too distracting (and they were right that the new look is a lot better), has joined the top 20. Jakob Karr has as well.Noelle Marsh and Mollee Gray were inseperable roommates in Vegas.
They fear they will be separated. Mollee is up first and is told she dances too young, but she joins the top 20. Noelle has also made it.Pauline Mata injured herself and was unable to finish Vegas week.
Nonetheless, she has made the top 20.B-Boy Jonathan “Legacy” Perez has made it to the top 20, despite the stupid nickname.Paula van Oppen will also advance. There are four people left in the holding room for two remaining spots. Two of those people are husband and wife. The guys go into the room first. Ryan di Lello is up against fellow ballroom dancer Gene Bersten.
Ryan advances. The girls are next. Karen Hauer also auditioned with her husband, Matthew, who was cut previously. She, too, is a ballroom dancer and squaring off against Ashleigh di Lello. Karen Hauer is in the top 20.Wait, there’s more. Ashleigh di Lello is also in the top 20. No, it’s not a lame extra person twist. I think they learned their lesson with Anoop Desai.Paula turned them down.
Why even bother getting this far then? Her explanation is that she’s been offered a contract for a movie. I sure hope it’s a worthwhile movie and not some made for TV one that will play at 2AM. I wouldn’t bet on it.To summarize, the top 10 girls are:Ariana DeBoseAshleigh di LelloBianca RevelsChanning CookeEllenore ScottKaren HauerKathryn McCormackMollee GrayNoelle MarshPauline MataAnd the top 10 guys are:Billy BellJakob KarrJonathan “Legacy” PerezKevin HuntNathan TrasorasPeter SabasinoPhillip AttmoreRussell FergusonRyan di LelloVictor Smalley.
